BE-Rural gets started

Welcome to our brand-new website! Here, you will be able to stay up to date on what we do, our news, activities and at a later stage also our results. You can learn about our concepts and objectives, the consortium and the experts advising us. In the section on “Innovation Regions” you can discover on which regions the BE-Rural partners will focus to jointly develop regional bio-based strategies. In the “Background” section you can find a multimedia overview about the bioeconomy – its definition, goals and objectives. BE-Rural started in April 2019 and will be running until end of March 2022.

What are our next steps?

We are currently compiling an overview on new technical options for bio-based economies and good practices. The focus is on smaller-scale technology options that are suitable for the different regions we are focusing on. The overview will also address the general economic, social and environmental potential of each identified value chain. Concrete good-practice examples will be collected for each technology – analyzing its commercial market level. Once these are identified, the analysis will be expanded to include business models for bio-based economies. A key focus of the research will be on their suitability for local deployment – namely for the BE-Rural regions. All results will be summarized in a Handbook on regional and local bio-based economies, which will be published in the first year of BE-Rural.
