Ecologic Institute is a transdisciplinary research organisation focusing on environmental issues. In addition, the researchers at Ecologic Institute provide policy analyses and consulting services. As a private, independent institute, Ecologic Institute is devoted to the task of addressing the relevant socio-political questions of sustainability research and to bring new insights into environmental policy. In this context, Ecologic Institute covers a range of projects, presentations and publications related to the bioeconomy. It analyses the environmental, social and economic impacts of bioenergy policy, sustainable biomass and biofuel production. Ecologic Institute was founded in 1995 and is a partner in the network of the Institutes for European Environmental Policy and a member of the Ecological Research Network (Ecornet).
The Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA)

The Bulgarian Industrial Association – Union of the Bulgarian Business (BIA) is a voluntary, non-governmental organisation of the Bulgarian industry, established in 1980. BIA is an umbrella organisation with a matrix structure, vertically representing over 100 sector-oriented organisations and horizontally over 100 regional and local bodies, besides large scientific organisations and universities, other collective members and single companies. BIA defends the interests of its members by determining the economic policy in Bulgaria, lobbying at state level, developing and improving the regulatory framework and preparing analyses, studies and others in the area of industrial, tax and social policy, environmental protection, SMEs, etc. BIA participates in partnership bodies on a national level and is a nationally recognised organisation of the employers, participating through its representatives in the work of the National Council of Tripartite Cooperation, Economic and Social Council, commissions and committees at ministries and other governmental institutions, etc.

BIOCOM is a leading specialized communication and information company focused on life sciences. For more than 30 years, BIOCOM analyses the European bioeconomic development. Findings have been feed in proprietary databases, and results utilized in studies and publications. BIOCOM has extensive knowledge from basic research to market and offers the whole range of communication and publication services: international conferences, videos, social media campaigns or print publications. This applies in particular for communication and dissemination for EU research projects.
Institute for Economic Forecasting (IPE)

The Institute is part of the National Institute for Economic Research belonging to the Romanian Academy. The institute carries out research projects covering a range of fields – from economic modeling and forecasting to policy evaluation, empirical sample studies and long-term and short-term forecasts. Since its establishment, the Institute’s activity has resulted in a significant volume of research output, ranging from theoretical, academically oriented materials, to strategic studies, many times crucial for the economic decision making process in Romania.
The National Marine Fisheries Research Institute (NMFRI)

The National Marine Fisheries Research Institute is the oldest marine science centre in Poland. Its mission is to provide independent, objective and up-to-date knowledge based on scientific activity as well as research and development works, which support economically sustainable and environmentally sound development of marine fisheries. Among its activities are the preparation of scientific opinions for the Polish fishing administration, the European Commission and proper international organisations. The institute conducts and promotes research and development activities in fishery, biological and interdisciplinary sciences focuse on the marine environment. Overall, it follows the goal to develop society’s awareness on the functioning and rational exploitation of the marine ecosystem with a special attention to sustainable marine fisheries management.
International Centre for Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems – Macedonian Section (SDEWES-Skopje)

The International Centre for Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems – Macedonian Section (SDEWES-Skopje) gathers professionals and scientists from broad range of disciplines of sustainable development of energy, water and environment systems in order to provide scientific support for wise policy-making in the following challenging topics: sustainable development (planning, cross-cutting, metrics and indices, potentials, models, costs and benefits); green economy and better governance; climate change (GHG emissions inventories and projections, mitigation, reduction/limitation targets); Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS); and energy (planning, policies, targets). These topics are addressed through carefully planned and well-balanced portfolio of activities, including: modelling work and integrated assessments in order to provide solid base for well – informed and needs-reflective policy-making; capacity building/ trainings and organization of conferences and targeted workshops in order to afford skillful analysts and modellers and knowledgeable politicians; and support to stakeholders’ engagement and social marketing in order to facilitate participatory approach in decision-making and behavioural changes of the population. In addition, acknowledging that regional coordination is the key for providing feasible solutions of the common challenges and problems and gaining synergy effects, the activities of SDEWES-Skopje could be extended at regional level including the other EU candidate and potential candidate countries, as well as EU neighbourhood countries.

The Latvian State Forest Research Institute “Silava” is the Latvian forest science centre. The principal goal of LSFRI Silava: getting new knowledge, based on scientific methods, and developing the innovative technologies to promote the sustainable development and competitiveness of forest sector. Silava is a national research organization and employs about 80 research scientists.
